Atkins Companies Inks Two New Retail Leases at Washington Square Town Center

Italian Restaurant and Ice Cream Parlor Join Diverse Slate of Retail Tenants

Washington Township, N.J. (May 25, 2021) – Atkins Companies announces it has signed two new retail leases at Washington Square Town Center located at 247 Hurffville-Cross Keys Road in Washington Township, N.J. Santucci’s Original Square Pizza’s lease of 2,620 square feet and What’s The Scoop’s lease of 1,980 square-foot lease brings Washington Square Town Center’s 20,000-square-foot retail component to 90 percent occupancy. Joe Raniszewski of MSC Retail represented Atkins Companies in both transactions. Greg Bianchi of US Realty Associates, Inc., represented Santucci’s Pizza.

Founded in 1959, Santucci’s Original Square Pizza currently has three locations in Philadelphia and two locations at the Jersey Shore. In addition to their original square pizza, the family-owned restaurant serves up the finest Italian food in the Philadelphia area offering dine-in, takeout and delivery options at its restaurants. Their new location at Washington Square Town Center is projected to open in Fall 2021.

“We are excited to bring our seventh Santucci's Original Square Pizza location to Washington Township, NJ,” said Alicia Santucci, President, Santucci’s Original Square Pizza. “Our growth is fueled by our passion for serving our signature products and becoming an integral part of every new community we serve. We look forward to our projected Fall 2021 Grand Opening and welcoming all of the members of the Washington Township community to enjoy what makes Santucci's so special."

Joining Santucci’s Original Square Pizza is What’s The Scoop, a brand new ice cream parlor concept that also plans to open its doors by Fall 2021. Owned and operated by Stacy Valerio, What’s The Scoop will boast a diverse menu of completely homemade treats, featuring ice cream, water ice and novelties for the community to enjoy year-round. With a flair for the unconventional, What’s The Scoop will also offer seasonal items and unique, limited edition desserts with a continuously changing menu of specials.

“With an emphasis on unique, homemade offerings that will be available for the community to enjoy year-round, What’s The Scoop will be much more than your average run-of-the-mill ice cream parlor,” said Stacy Valerio, Owner and Operator, What’s The Scoop. “I am thrilled to be opening What’s The Scoop in Washington Square Town Center later this year and look forward to sharing our delicious, handcrafted ice creams, water ice, and novelties with the local community.”

Developed through a joint venture partnership between Atkins Companies and Woodmont Properties, Washington Square Town Center is a 35-acre mixed-use community that features 330 residential apartments, 100 townhomes, an assisted living facility as well as a state-of-the-art 40,000-square-foot Class-A medical office building anchored by Rothman Orthopaedic Institute in addition to 20,000 square feet of retail spread across two 10,000-square-foot standalone buildings. Due to tremendous demand in the local market, a third planned 10,000-square-foot standalone retail building at the property was recently converted to medical use and will be fully occupied by Axia Women’s Health, a fast-growing network of OB/GYN physicians, breast health centers, high-risk pregnancy centers, laboratories, urogynecology, and fertility centers with locations across the Northeast.

Bringing the retail component of the ambitious mixed-use community to 90 percent occupancy, the two new leases with Santucci’s Original Square Pizza and What’s The Scoop round out the diverse slate of retail tenants at the property including Bison Coffee Company, Strive Physical Therapy and Sports Rehabilitation, PetCheck Animal Urgent Care, and Lavish Nails & Spa. The project also boasts an impressive roster of healthcare tenants in addition to Axia Women’s Health and Rothman Orthopaedic Institute, including The Heart House cardiology group, Jefferson Health Outpatient Imaging, Advocare OB/GYN, and Mid Atlantic Retina. In the final stages of construction, the entirety of the multiphase project is on track to be fully completed by late summer 2021.

“As we wrap up the final stages of this visionary project, it is clear that we have created a much-desired community amenity here in Washington Township,” said Bob Atkins, Managing Partner of Atkins Companies. “The synergistic tenant mix together with the assisted living facility and multifamily component have created a unique multigenerational community at Washington Square Town Center that has garnered significant interest from medical and retail tenants alike, despite the challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic. We look forward to completing the final stages of construction and helping the newest tenants open their doors in the coming months.”

Currently, there is only 1,980 square feet of retail space remaining for lease at Washington Square Town Center. For more information on retail leasing opportunities, please contact Joe Raniszewski of MSC Retail at 215-883-7390 or jraniszewski@MSCretail.com.
